FIRE NEVER SLEEPS - FIRE MISHAP CLAIMS 3 LIVES AND INJURE 4 IN FIRECRACKER FACTORY IN SOLAPUR

Fire never sleeps. Two major fires dampened the New Year spirit in Maharashtra. A massive blast in a boiler of a chemical factory in Maharashtra's Nashik district on Sunday killed 2 and left 17 injured and a fire accident in a firecracker factory explosion in Solapur which occurred at around 3 p.m. also on New Year’s Day, claimed 3 lives.

Senior police officials and fire authorities rushed to the spot in the Solapur firecracker plant. Three persons died and four persons got seriously injured in a major fire and several resultant blasts at a fireworks manufacturing unit in Barshi taluka of Solapur district Sunday, the Solapur district police said. The local administration said the death toll could rise.

Officials from Solapur District Collectorate and Rural Police said the incident took place around 2.30 pm at the fireworks manufacturing which was running from makeshift sheds next to an agricultural field in Shirola village of Barshi taluka in Solapur District.

Shirish Sardeshpande, superintendent of police for Solapur rural, said: “Three persons are reported dead, and three more were critically injured in the fire. Rescue and relief operations are currently on. Teams from the local police, fire brigade, and other emergency response entities reached the spot after the incident.”
